RIOJAS, Ynes

Ynes Riojas of Karnes City, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Frank M. Tejada Texas State Veterans Nursing Home in Floresville.

Mrs. Riojas was born April 12, 1924, in Weesatche to Clemente and Carmen Rodriguez. She was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church where she was a member of the Guadalupana Society, the church choir and the Cursillista Christian Group. She was known for her beautiful garden where she spent most of her time and loved making doilies for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; and brother.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Hilario Riojas of Karnes City; sons, Art (Dolores) Riojas of San Antonio, Rudy (Kristine) Riojas of Kerrville and Edward (Leticia) Riojas of Karnes City; daughter, Mary Helen (Robert) Leal of Karnes City; grandchildren, Randy Riojas, Jeffrey Riojas, A.J. Elizondo, Cynthia Perez, Jennifer Shelby, Stephanie Russom, Rhea Martinez, Crystal Garza, Brittany Riojas, Amber Riojas, Zachery Riojas, Ryan Leal, Rudy Leal, Marissa Leal and Ronnie Leal; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation was held Friday, March 31, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City. A rosary was recited there at 7 p.m.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City with burial following at Karnes City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Riojas, Zachery Riojas, Ryan Leal, Hunter Shelby, Ronnie Leal, Jeff Riojas and Rudy Leal.

Honorary pallbearers were Mike Ochoa, Andres Vasquez, Raymond Cantu, Raymond Escobar, Pablo Cruz and Gilbert Rodriguez.

SMITH, Robert “Bobby” Lee, Jr.

Robert “Bobby” Lee Smith Jr., 48, of Kenedy, died Saturday, March 8, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mr. Smith was born Nov. 12, 1968, in Corpus Christi to Joyce Eugene and Robert Lee Smith Sr. He graduated from Pine Forest High School in Pensacola, Florida, and attended college at Alabama State University. He served in the United States Army during Desert Storm. He worked in refineries all over the world as a pipe fitter and boiler maker. He most recently worked for Stronghold/Cat Spec. He was a member of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Karnes City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Smith Sr.; sister, Debbie Gilmore; step-sister, Kathy Warren; brother-in-law, Richard Foley; along with his grandparents, uncles, and aunts.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte L. Foley-Smith; two sons, Devon (Candace) Smith of Pensacola, Florida, and Gabriale (Gabe) Smith of Kenedy; a daughter, Christen A. Williams of Kenedy; mother, Joyce Eugene (Roberto) Richardson of Corpus Christi; step-mother, Floreen Smith of Pensacola, Florida; a brother, Eric Gilmore of Houston; two sisters, Pamela Gilmore (Carl) Tate of San Antonio and Sonya Gilmore of Houston; step-sister, Sandra Johnson; two step-brothers, Timmy Johnson and Steven Johnson; grandchildren, Cameron Smith and Devoshon Smith; two sisters-in-law, Michele Foley and Julie Foley; two brothers-in-law, Anthony Foley Sr. and Elmorris Foley Jr.; mother- and father-in-law, Elmorris and Carlette Foley Sr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A service was conducted Saturday, March 18, at 1 p.m. at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Karnes City with Pastor Reverend Bobby W. Black officiating. Interment was held at Karnes City Memory Garden.

Pallbearers were Devon Smith, Darrell Parker, James Byrd, Daron Horne, Karl Palmer, Eric Gilmore, Wendell St. Cyr and Jesse Hernandez.

Honorary pallbearers were Gabriale Smith, Brandon Alexander, Elmorris Foley Jr., Christen Williams, Timmy Johnson, Elmorris Foley Sr., Joyce Richardson, Steven Johnson, Carlette Foley, Robert Richardson, Sandra Johnson, Floreen Smith, Sonya Gilmore, Charolette Floey-Smith, Lamar Gilmore, Pamela Gilmore-Tate, Anthony Foley Sr., Shaneka Gilmore, Michelle Foley, Julie Foley and Carl Tate.

Arrangements were under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, San Antonio.

GARCIA, Mary Ann P.

Mary Ann P. Garcia,  55, of Kenedy, died Thursday, March 23, 2017.

Mrs. Garcia was born Sept. 10, 1961, in Kenedy to Argelia and Felix F. Padron Jr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Armando Garcia.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth (Randy) Fiscus of La Vernia; grandchildren, Miley Fiscus, Jose Garcia and Bronson Fiscus; five sisters, Martha (Carlos) Soto, Melinda Padron, Magdalena (Don) Cornelius, Minerva (Lloyd) Crawford and Marina (Prudencio) Sifuentes; brothers, Felix (Mary) Padron III, Fabian (Sylvia) Padron and Frank (Becky) Padron; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation was held Sunday, March 26, from 1 to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 o’clock that evening at Eckols Funeral Home.

The funeral service was conducted Monday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, with interment in the Karnes City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Fiscus, Joe Valdez, Phillip Soto, Ruben Munoz, Alec Padron, Augustine Padron, Prudencio Sifuentes and Lloyd Crawford Sr.

Arrangements were under the direction of Eckols Funeral Home, Kenedy.
