JENDRUSCH, Mary “Gladys”

Mary “Gladys” Jendrusch, 84, of Pawelekville, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital in Kenedy.

Mrs. Jendrusch was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Helena to Ed and Susan (Pawelek) Janysek. She worked at the City Pharmacy in Karnes City, Connally-Harry Drug Store in Floresville and volunteered at the Panna Maria Visitors Center. She was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin of Mary in Cestohowa where she also served with the Altar Society. She loved gardening and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Jendrusch; brothers, Vincent Janysek, Edward Janysek, Alvin Janysek, Ernest Janysek and Sam Janysek; and a sister, Theresa Moczygemba.

Survivors include daughters, Debbie (Benny) Arfele of McAllen, Bernadette Jendrusch and Denise Jendrusch both of Denver, Colorado, and Carol (Darrell) Wehlmann of Hockley; sons, Martin Jendrusch of Three Rivers and Alan (Brenda) Jendrusch of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, Bennie Janysek of Burnett; sister, Helen Malik of LaVernia; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, April 16, at Rhodes Funeral Home in Kenedy, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a rosary following at 7 o’clock.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin of Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa, with burial to follow at Cestohowa Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Hughes, Chris Hughes, Jeffrey Wiatrek, Charlie Malik, Matthew Arfele and Colin Jendrusch.
