McDONALD, Sybil Elva

Sybil Elva McDonald, 98, of Corpus Christi, died Sunday, April 9, 2017.

Mrs. McDonald was born Jan. 1, 1919, to Lillie Mae Hall and Dennis Dee Vickery in Burnell. She married Alvin John “AJ” McDonald in 1938. In early years, she helped run a hamburger stand in Kenedy and also worked for Nelson Electric and J. C. Penny’s. She was also a seamstress and enjoyed baking. Upon retiring, she and AJ spent time in Cuero and Beeville before returning to Kenedy to live. She lived her last few years in a senior home in Corpus Christi near her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin John McDonald; son, Randy McDonald; daughter-in-law, Alene McDonald; grandsons, Lonnie and Lyle Stone; and a great-grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Faun (Don) Stone; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A service was conducted Wednesday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at Eckols Funeral home in Kenedy. Burial was held in the Kenedy Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Craig Davis, Ben Davis, Jacob Davis, Preston Ward, Kirk Stone and Donnie Stone.

Arrangements were under the direction of Eckols Funeral Home, Kenedy.
